Since 2005 the municipalities of Karlshamn, Ronneby och Karlskrona and Länsstyrelsen Blekinge has been working on an application to get an area in Blekinge appointed as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The biosphere reserve will be called ”Blekinge Arkipelag”.
